It’s 2024 (almost 2025), and yet it baffles me that so many service-based businesses are still missing out on the easiest way to generate leads. If you’re in the service industry—whether it's home services, law, accounting, or any professional service—this is for you. I’m about to show you how to generate leads with Google’s local features and grow your business profile so that it stands out when people search for your services.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Stephen, and I run FlexMarketing.com. We specialize in helping service businesses grow, and just last year alone, we generated over $3 million in organic revenue for our clients—yes, that’s without ads or word of mouth, just organic traffic. And a big part of that comes from optimizing Google Business Profiles.
Let’s break it down. If you’re a service business and someone’s searching for your services online, they’re going straight to Google. Imagine someone searches for "HVAC contractors near me" in your area. One of the first things that pops up—after the ads—is a list of business profiles, complete with reviews, photos, and locations.
Now, if you’re not showing up there, guess what? Your competitors are. And they’re scooping up those leads while you're missing out. So, how do you make sure your business profile ranks higher? Let’s dive into that.
There are two key factors when it comes to any marketing channel, whether it’s social media, SEO, or Google: Consistency and Quality.
Now, I know what you’re thinking—asking for reviews can feel awkward. But trust me, it doesn’t have to be. Here’s a tip: set up an automated email to go out a couple of days after a job is completed. In the email, thank your client and casually ask if they’d like to leave a review on your Google Business Profile. Tools like Jobber make this super easy by automating the process.
But here’s an even better method: just ask. Yup, it’s that simple. After finishing a job, ask your client for feedback. If they’re happy with your work, they’ll probably be happy to leave a review. Say something like, “Hey, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience on our Google Business Profile. It helps others know what to expect and makes a huge difference for us.”
You’d be surprised how many people are willing to take 30 seconds to leave a review if you ask them directly.
Think about it: if you’re serving 5 to 10 customers a month, that’s 60 to 120 new reviews a year. And with each review, your profile climbs higher in search results, leading to more leads and more business.
So, if you’re not already doing this, start today. Optimize your Google Business Profile, ask for reviews, and watch your business grow. Want to hear how this works for you? Drop a comment below and let me know how many reviews you’ve been able to get using these tips!
